My shop was started out of my home and currently continues that way. I have a room dedicated to sewing and supplies and started my business about 5 years ago by participating in our local markets. I received lots of good feedback so I decided to start my own Etsy shop. After 5 years on Etsy, I have decided to branch out to another platform, Merchlet. I work full-time as a Nurse Practitioner. I have to stay super organized and use the weekends and evenings to choose/purchase fabric, cut fabric, sew, and publishing items on Etsy and Merchlet. I use social media and Tailwind to help market my products. I also have commissioned projects such as weighted blankets that are too expensive for me to ship at this point but maybe in the future. My fabric is purchased new through fabric.com, Etsy and at SEWITSFORSALE and ZIGGIELANE both on FB. I strive to purchase locally or on etsy as much as possible. The low cost of my fabric helps in the lower cost I pass on to the customer.
